Prineville Railroad & Freight Depot - 100 years and still going strong!

Nostalgia Mixed With An Economic Engine

The Prineville Railroad is almost 100 years old! There aren't many short line railroads operating in the black these days - but the Prineville Railroad has found a way to survive and thrive. And with the Port of Portland suffering from the withdrawal of Hanjin and others, "inland ports" like Prineville may just become the beneficiaries. And the nostalgia around the Mount Emily Shay, one of the few steam locomotives still in operation, is attracting railroad buffs from all over the country.  Listen to this podcast recorded with Matt Wiederholt and Caroline Ervin at the Prineville Freight Depot recently. Total running time: 11:35
